Omnibus bills like this are an opportunity to slip undesirable legislation through without sufficient debate. The provision to amend the Planning act to allow local councils to override the protection of the Greenbelt farmland, parkland etc. constitutes a major attack on Ontario's supply of clean water, and also an attack on our supply of good, locally-grown food. It is in no way desirable except for those with an eye to a short-term profit at the expense of our long-term economic health.
