I am very much against this…

I am very much against this open for business planning tool. I am proud to live in a province that’s legislation puts the protection of our drinking water sources above everything else. One that puts high importance on protecting wetlands and other natural spaces with the knowledge that the essential services they provide to maintain a healthy environment for the people of Ontario are irreplaceable.

This tool not only opens the door to developing lands previously protected by the Clean Water Act, Greenbelt Act, Great Lakes Protection Act, and Lake Simcoe Protection Plan Act it takes away the requirement for public consultation and the ability to appeal decisions to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal. No citizen of Ontario should give up their right to contribute to planning decisions that could alter theirs and our children’s lives forever. Fifty “employment opportunities” is not worth the long term cost to Ontario. The many brownfields throughout Ontario should be the first choice for redevelopment not our very limited natural spaces that we have left.
