I am very concerned about the proposal to make it easier for municipalities to bypass protections on farmland, "greenbelt" lands and other sensitive areas.
We need farmland to grow food for Ontarians and we need greenbelt areas to protect biodiversity, species at risk, and as carbon sinks.
Protecting farmland and green areas is not red tape -- it is critical for our future and the future of our children and grandchildren.
We cannot eat money nor can we breathe money. Don't let pressure from developers push legislators into giving away our farmland and green areas.
Some municipalities have already passed motions opposing the bypass option.
