Habitat loss is a threat to 85% of at risk or endangered species worldwide (WWF, 2019). Ontario cannot afford to loosen regulations on the Endangered Species Act. Attention to tightening regulations on urban sprawl and agriculture are especially important, as these factors are a particular threat to our endangered species.
Strong environmental protections are not the antithesis to economic growth. Rather, they encourage long term thinking, and sustainability - factors that save us money down the line.
