I ask that the Ontario government act with full accountability and transparency to place effective measures which protect public safety in the event of a Fukishima scale accident.
This should include protection of the Great Lakes drinking supplies. Full accountability would also ensure evacuation, housing and safety provisions for affected Ontarians in the event of a worst case accident along the Great Lakes. With attention to adequate planning for vulnerable sectors ( hospital patients, elderly, disabled etc). Also expand current emergency evacuation planning areas to reflect real world experiences.
Please show vision and respect for people's lives before any other consideration by either matching or exceeding the best practice emergency plans put in place by Switzerland in case of INES , level 7 events which includes preparation for emergency evacuation and housing over long periods of time.
Please ensure regular reviews and ongoing transparency to offer the best solutions and responses to dire possibilities.
