/The Mississauga Board of Trade Environment, Sustainability & Infrastructure Committee would like to express our support for the Credit Valley and Toronto Region Conservation Authorities and the work they do. We believe that these agencies play a very important role in the City of Mississauga.
The City of Mississauga implemented a storm water levy five years ago charging property owners close to $40 million per year to pay for storm water programs and infrastructure above and beyond the property tax. Although none of this money goes to the Conservation Authorities it is designed to support storm water services.
Given this fact and the extremely important role that Conservation Authorities play in storm water control and mitigation, we believe the Government of Ontario should continue to crucial mandate of these agencies and ensure they are adequately funded to perform their work.
While we welcome the Government's review, the Mississauga Board of Trade does not believe that CAs require any significant change to their mandates and operations.
