The City of Toronto has a planning committee to ensure that the city remains livable for normal middle class people and particularly people raising children, not only the rich. Keeping families in the city keeps Toronto from becoming like American cities with a very exclusive downtown, dangerous slums surrounding it and everyone else living in suburbs.
Bill 108 removes the city's hard won gains of some degree of control to keep Toronto a vibrant and livable city for most people. The Conservative government, with this bill, looks like they are in the pocket of the developers. It looks just too easy for these developers with very deep pockets. The optics stink from a political standpoint. Ford's campaign slogan was 'for the people'. He just didn't say that 'people' are the real estate developers of Ontario.
Please remove the amendments to the planning act and prove the present government is actually for the people - all the people.
