Given the widespread concerns regarding flood management, water quality, wildlife extinction, etc. I suggest that conservation authorities need to retain, if not increase, control regarding the decision-making and input towards environmental regulations. That means NO cuts to funding and NO removal of existing regulations. We, as a society, have to make responsible decisions regarding urban development, particularly those that could impact wildlife (at-risk, threatened or endangered). Once a species is extinct, it is gone FOREVER. Once a wetland has been surrounded by a concrete jungle, there is no turning back to undo the damage that is done.
