"I noted that in your list of organizations which are exempt from Community Benefits, the list did not include publicly funded school boards and their owned or leased sites.
Under Bill 108, certain types of development may be exempt from the CBB charge if prescribed by regulation. https://ero.ontario.ca/notice/019-0183
It notes that the Minister is proposing that the following types of developments be exempt from CBB charges:
Long-term care homes
Retirement homes
Universities and colleges
Memorial homes, clubhouses or athletic grounds of the Royal Canadian Legion
Hospices
Non-profit housing
Schools (specifically publicly funded schools) should be included in this list.
Schools as development have historically been exempt from development charges and in return Education Development Charges exempt properties owned and operated by Municipalities.
We request that schools be added as an exemption.
