Hi
I am a cottager in Highlands East, Haliburton and a Lake Association board member. I’d like to emphasize that the most important asset that Haliburton County has is its vast number of fresh water lakes. Anything that could pose a threat to any of those lakes in terms of water quality should be considered a non starter due to the direct impact on property values/ tax revenues and the environment. The same applies to noice levels on lakes. Allowing any industry to be able to circumvent existing municipal environmental bylaws is not in the best interests of a vast majority of full time and seasonal residents in Haliburton and should not be implemented.
I do agree however than municipalities within a specific county should have consistent zoning bylaws to enhance efficiencies and enforcement.
