My father built a home at Rondeau in 1971. Thankfully, his lot of choice was on the outside of the park gates. Because of this our family has been able to enjoy the atmospere surrounding Rondeau, without the threat that the piece of land our cherished home stands, could be pulled out like a rug from under it.

Growing up at Rondeau it is in my experience that the families who have cottages here both inside the park and out, take pride in them. And it is this that gives our park character and makes people want to come here. The members of my family do not purchase park passes each year to see the unmaintained grass in the campgrounds or to hug a tree. But do so to catch a glimpse of our past. It is a joy to see the cottages that have been there since our childhood. And to admire the improvements the next generation has made to them. It is even more impressive to see that the next generation has not changed the cottage at all. But maintained the cottage's original character to the point where you could almost step back in time. A time when Rondeau Provincial Park was booming and the place to be. A time when efforts were actually made to attract people to pay to come here and join in the fun.

Considering the decisions that have been made in the past, for what you think is best for our park. I do not have faith in what decisions you would make for the empty lot, where once stood a cottage, that was cherished by generations of a family. A family that took pride in maintaining it so it could be enjoyed not only by them, but also the visitors who pay you and are just passing through. You are very lucky that the leaseholders at Rondeau Provincial Park have not the right to vote. If they did I could only hope that some of you decision makers would be out of a job!
