My comment is based on the apparent disregard for our environment. It seems that money is still the determining factor on how we care for our world. Residents of Chatham are fighting to preserve Paxton's Bush.
Your proposal for lease extension described in your letter to me of October 4 amounts to a case of age discrimination. If I were 40 years old, and agreed to your proposal, I might stand a chance of lasting until 2038. However, since I am 67, there is only a slim chance that I will last until 95.
I have been a resident of Chatham Kent for my entire 54 years. While I do NOT own a cottage in Rondeau, I have enjoyed visting friends over the years that do. My wife and I frequently go for drives through the park "to look at the cottages".
The current terms of the lease extension are discrimatory against various groups in this cottage community - older people, single people, financially-challenged and terminally ill people. I think that the cottagers should be allowed to transfer ownership to children or spouses.
I was born and raised in Ridgetown and was a teenager during the 1960’s when it was still possible to drive out to the Point and there were campgrounds there as well.
I identify myself as non-cottagers. My family owns a cottage in Rondeau. I just wanted to say that a long term lease extension is a great idea. I personally feel that the cottagers and the familes who visit the cottage are the care taker of the Rondeau.
I am strongly opposed to any extension of the cottage leases in Rondeau Provincial Park. All current leaseholders entered into their leases knowing full well that they expired in 2017.
I was quite disappointed to see the extesnion of cottages leases being proposed once again for Rondeau Provincial Park. This activity has been disrupting and threatening the ecological integrity of the rare shoreline communities along Lake Erie for far too long.
Rondeau cottagers, their guests and their families make significant contributions to the economy and sustainability of the communities within the Chatham Kent region.
It is quite a shame that the Ministry of Natural Resources is trying to force out the cottagers. People have spent the last two centuries living in harmony with the land and the animals around it. The policies enacted in recent years have made the Rondeau the experience less enjoyable.

I would strongly urge the powers that be to extend the leases on the cottages in Rondeau Park as well as allow others to buy in or current owners to sell to whoever to maintain and even grow if possible the cottage life at Rondeau Park.
I feel that the leases should be extended to the cottagers of rondeau.
My hope is that the MNR work collaboratively with the cottagers in the future as opposed to what i have wittnessed in the previous years as a visitor and frequent user of the park.

Good morning,
A long term lease extension is a great idea. A few changes could transform this policy proposal into one that stakeholders could accept.
