Our family llves next to some aggregate pits and we have been very patient with them. Originally, they would follow the rules of no working past 7:00 p.m. and no working on the weekend. This has been badly abused. They are working on weekends and the noise and trucking are a distraction for a peaceful weekend. We are very disappointed with the Ministry with respect to they lack of control over the process of the aggregate companies. The rehabilitation of the aggregate companies seems to be non existing. One aggregate company has arrangements with a fish company and the smell from the dead fish is outrageous in the summer when it is very hot. Why is this happening when it was a aggregate company and now something else is going on and not for the good of the township.
I cannot imagine what our township will look like if all these aggregate companies converge on us. Our beautiful township will no longer be. Our lands, which are supposed be protected by green space and our wild life will be non existent. Also. with the water taking under the table level, we will be left with dry wells in no time, maybe not immediately, but in. the future. With all the trucking going on, the dust is bad and if you are driving past, you can hear the sand particles hit your car.
