I am very encouraged by the Government's decision to maintain the water taking moratorium until next Fall to allow for studies to be completed and public consultation to occur, especially in the affected areas like Aberfoyle.
I am personally opposed to bottled water from springs etc. Municipal water is safe to drink. Consumers do not need to buy it in one-time use plastic bottles, which no doubt leach chemicals and particles into the water they contain. Far better for the environment for consumers to top up refillable bottles from home, work or any restaurant.
The only exception, which should and must be addressed as soon as possible, is for First Nations with contaminated water supplies, and obviously emergency situations.
