I believe that access and security of supply of drinking water is a basic human right. This valuable resource must not be sold to industries at the expense of depletion of security of supply to Municipalities and in turn citizens of Ontario. Security of supply for citizens must be guaranteed before even considering selling any natural resources for profit. Bottled water industries essentially purchase water for nothing and make huge profits while depleting aquifers and reducing our supplies. The Ontario government cannot adequately monitor these companies, who have no conscience and constantly compete with Municipal governments to secure water supplies. There should be a ban on selling water rights to commercial industries for sole profit.
