Dear Sir/Madam,
I am an Ontario resident who strongly objects to allowing private companies water bottling permits in Ontario.
Ontario's water is a common good. It is the responsibility of the Government Ontario to protect our water and ensure that the public has free access to clean water.
It is wrong for the Government to allow a company to own a common good. It is wrong for Ontario's citizens to have to pay for water that we already own.
By allowing a private company bottling permits, Ontario will move from a clean system of water being drawn up in wells or through pipes to one where energy is used to put water in plastic bottles that end up in landfills and oceans as often as they are recycled. I object to the pollution that this enterprise will create.
I strongly urge you to extend the moratorium on water bottling permits.
Sincerely,
J.G.
