Sir: in regard to the proposal to extend cottage leases in Rondaeu Park: I am strongly opposed to such an action.
If the original lease agreement was set to expire in 2017, that should remain the case.
Protection of Rondaeu Park and its flora and fauna must take precedence in any decisions that impact on the Park. Residential dwellings inevitably have a negative impact due to "property creep" - the insidious extension of mown areas and filled-in lakefronts. Native vegetation may be removed and be replaced with invasive species such as Tatarian honeysuckle which are more pleasing to the eye of the cottager. Once in ,never out.
I hope the Ministry will reconsider its planned lease extension. Enough is enough.
