I support this initiative. Many communities are built around provincial highways so there is no chance of them becoming cycling friendly unless the provincial government is on board with making its highways cycling friendly.
Some things I would like to be included:
-a review of standard MTO interchange design to ensure future interchanges are built to facilitate cycling rather than acting as barriers
-a program to retrofit interchanges that are barriers to cycling routes and a regulation that cycling be considered in all structure rehabilitations. There have been several ocuurences recently where rehabilitation of MTO structures in Ottawa have failed to address the lack of cycling facilities, even when the structure is on a designated municipal cycling route.
