Canada's and Ontario's boreal forest is essential in its natural state for our survival and the survival of wildlife species. We have seen the devastating fires in California and BC, in the Amazon and Australia. Human intrusion decimates and eventually destroys forests and wildlife. The boreal forest is Ontario's songbird nursery. It is home to pine, poplar, birch, and spruce that thrive in the northern cold and provide food for wildlife. Turtles, frogs, bears, lynx, fox, wolves, and caribou depend on the boreal forest. We people of Ontario, north and south, depend on a healthy boreal forest to clean our air, water and soil, to decontaminate our environment of toxins, and to help us mitigate climate change and ever-increasing extreme weather events. Do not compromise our health and safety. Protect the boreal forest.
