I strongly reject any changes that involve loosening regulations on forestry. We are in the middle of a climate crisis and we need to protect existing old growth forests and the ecosystems they support as well as our watersheds. We need to make it financially necessary (and necessary by regulation) for companies to produce products by recycling existing paper in circulation. We need to return to regenerative wood practices like coppicing (leaving root systems intact) to sequester carbon, reduce soil erosion and protect watersheds from run-off. Faster growth, sequester carbon.
