It is my understanding that these cottages were originally leased with the understanding that they were able to be in their family forever. Leaving these to spouse, sibling, child, or whomever the relative might be. Some people have put a lot of money and time into making their place a very special one. The government should not be allowed to change these leases at their leisure. Wildlife has continued along with the cottagers and there is not reason this cannot still happen. If however, a property is not being cared for, it should then be reclaimed by the Government and then be leased to one who would be willing to clean it up and protect and care for it as their home with respect to the wildlife around.
