In March 2020, I received a general letter delivered to my address advising of the construction of an organics processing centre to be located at 633 Coronation Drive in Scarborough (2683517 Ontario Ltd).
This area of Scarborough has been subject to various changes over the past few years (i.e. water treatment plant upgrades and sewer upgrades) which have created complications to wildlife and residence.
I have strong environmental concerns regarding the health and well-being of area residences and wildlife in the area. I understand that thousands of tons of waste per day will arrive via hundreds of trucks that will contain food waste from industrial, commercial and institutional locations from all over Ontario. The plant will emit many greenhouse gases and pollutants into our environment effecting all residence and wildlife that thrive in this area and within Rouge Hill National Park.
As a long-term resident of this area and a taxpayer, I demand to know more about this facility and am formally requesting an extension to the deadline be allowed, in light of COVID-19 pandemic, in order to hold a public meeting for residence to learn more and voice their concerns.
