I recommend that there NOT be any use of bait - grain, deer feed, alfalfa etc... for the purposes of luring deer to bait for hunting. It pulls in deer and concentrates them to a specific location and increases the opportunities to transmit disease as deer are in close contact with each other. Especially during the post rut period as deer are most susceptible to baiting. Deer numbers may also be artificially supported by deer baiting, feeding on the landscape. Bait may be brought in from long distances from CWD infected areas or jurisdictions.
Baiting also makes deer more susceptible to predation by predators, such as wolves had may further contract the disease and transmit it to other pack members. Baiting for deer is highly regulated in many USA states. The USA regulations should be reviewed- though mostly imposed for hunting fair chase purposes.
