I have a problem with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing proposed methodology that takes the Growth Plan away from "target-based" to "market demand based" land needs assessments. I want to see a target-based approach in which the targets are carefully chosen, closely monitored, and that are supported by other effective policy measures designed to bring about desired changes to the urban areas in the GGH. The GGH Growth Plan must prioritize an "intensification first" approach in order to curb sprawl, protect prime agricultural land and natural areas, and to create sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient urban communities.
