I am extremely concerned about this government continually attack to weaken protections through changes to Ontario's Environmental Legislation. I strongly believe that elected officials are not representing their citizens and acting to protect items that are in the public interest that do not provide an economic benefit. The legislative changes that this government supports continues to enable a pattern of development that is a driver of Climate Change and is putting Ontario citizens at greater risk from natural disasters and worse public health outcomes by facilitating projects that will increase pollution, facilitate sprawling communities and do not create healthy build active environments. The government's changes do not support their own policies and objectives. I am alarmed and believe that this government only represents private interests wishing to develop on sensitive environmental lands at the expense of Ontario's ability to be Climate ready and resilient. It is shameful and disgusting that we have a government so disconnected or simply does not care to prepare Ontario for the very real and pertinent risks of Climate Change.
I do not support any fund that would permit endangered species habitat to be destroyed and I am appealed that the government would even consider such legislation during a global biodiversity crisis.
