I am writing to protest against Ministers Zoning Orders being used on private lands. I understand that there is a time and place for them but not here in southern Ontario. They were never meant to be used as they are being used right now to override Municipal Councils and the will of the majority of the residents who live here. When the local citizens are 75% against what the land will be used for, there is something wrong with this picture. There is an old saying, no one is right if everyone is wrong.
This is an assault on our democracy to have this forced on us without due council. We only have to look south to see how precarious democracy is. I don’t condone our local mayor for his part in this business which amounts to a big coverup which circumvented local input which circumvented democracy because such action is undemocratic. It can be stated that MZO’s are catalysts for undemocratic actions that will ultimately affect a lot of the people in the immediate and long term.
