This is a severe erosion of local authority over land use controls. It is entirely unacceptable and inappropriate. The legislature should be strengthening local land use controls and giving local governments autonomy over more, not less oversight and decision making powers. This would further undermine the provincial land use planning legislative scheme. No more ministerial carve outs.
