How are glider kits going to be affected by the new integration of safety and emission inspections. So many fleets would purchase truck glider kits so that they could avoid purchasing new current trucks with emissions. Also many of these vehicles are not technically a finished product as they do not fall under Transport Canada National Safety Mark standards. Most fleets are assembling parts but are not necessarily qualified to build vehicles.
Gliders should not be grandfathered - they must be compliant to all safety and emission standards for the current year of production, not by the year of the engine. If the model year states that the vehicle must have EGR, SCR, DPF system on the truck - trucks must be put back OEM emission standards.
if we are going to attempt to reduce our carbon foot print and slow global warming it should be black and white, no grey areas. No emission controls, No safety and No pass
