It is a terrible idea and extremely short-sighted thinking to pave over an area of vital greenspace just to build 50000 new homes. Does the ministry of municipal affairs and housing not realize that the greenbelt provides vital food security, clean water and air, community space, and habitats for a variety of species. Have they even bothered to read what the purpose of the greenbelt is? Why not instead update zoning laws to allow for denser, varied, transit focused housing instead of expanding urban sprawl?
