I strongly support the measures in this government response statement. I am particularly supportive of the promotion of public outreach and increased conservation research. It is important to protect these animals for future generations because Massasaugas are an important part of their ecosystems and because their existence has intrinsic value. We must be responsible stewards of the environment and work to prevent the loss of another great snake species from Ontario, like when the timber rattlesnake was extirpated. I would also support any additional activities to help these snakes.
