The Greenbelt should be protected in its entirety. In 2018, Doug Ford said that would never touch the Greenbelt. In 2021, Mr. Steve Clark said he would not touch the Greenbelt. The housing crisis is not a housing crisis for real estate, when Ontario is 7 times bigger than New York.
We have vast amount of lands outside the GTA and Greenbelt that can be improved by single detached homes. Invest in infrastructure and developers will come. Look at Milton, Niagara and Hamilton with the GO. With hybrid work-from-home models, middle class citizens can take on longer commutes.
This is a democracy, and Doug promised the Greenbelt would not be touched. Significant wildlife and environmental sensitive lands will be impacted by these decisions that will hurt generations to come. Putting money in the pockets of developers for the benefit of your campaigns is not okay. If this goes through, the people of Ontario will not forget in their next vote.
You can build 60,000 units in Big Box retail. Please MZO big box retail if you have to, please do not touch the greenbelt.
The greenbelt is the Central Park of Ontario, to be protected in its integrity.
Please do not do this, the people's voice counts.
