Once we lose precious land, it is gone forever. We need that land for a healthy ecosystem, clean water and food production.
We will be losing land so developers can make money. The houses are not going to help with our housing crisis because they will still be out of reach for most Ontarian's. It also makes less sense because we need to focus more on density in cities where there is public transport rather than encouraging more cars (pollution) and highways we dont need.
Finally, we have plants and wildlife that rely on the Greenbelt. To destroy our natural resources means destroying habitats.
Is money for developers worth destroying our land, polluting our water, killing species and destroying our fragile and necessary ecosystem?
