Throwing up low income housing on top of green spaces is not the solution to the housing crisis when those buildings will be low quality and unaffordable to those who need them the most. Rampant mismanagement of construction and permit approval as well as the uncontrollable costs associated with housing as well as the uncontrollable mortgage rates from Canada's major Banks leave everyone vulnerable to them. Until the root problems of the housing crisis can be managed the building up of these spaces will help no one. In addition the lost Green space will cause problems for those already in the area as well as anything built on that area. Major cities are already prone to flooding and have been flooding more often as a result of the climate change and the stronger more intense storms we have been receiving. Paving more of that green space that helps mitigate heavy rains will cause flooding in all areas and will result in higher insurance premiums and payouts for everyone. Green space is also meant to help us keep our air cleaner and with unfettered uncontrolled growth that will not happen. We need more spaces to keep us healthy and keep our province healthy and thriving. Ontario is not meant to be open for business, Ontario is beautiful and we need to keep it that way.
