Destroying the greenbelt for development should NOT even be an option. In current times of climate crises, our greenbelt is one of Ontario’s protection measures against the effects of global warming. Rather, we should utilize and re-develop under-developed/abandoned urban areas - areas with service infrastructure already in place such as abandoned schools and deserted strips of commercial buildings. Even renovating current infrastructure to maximize urban density would be more beneficial than ruining our last environmental safeguards - a safeguard that, once ruined, we can never get back.
