Research on the massasauga rattlesnake can provide valuable insight into conservation efforts that can be applied to many other snake species. In my opinion, the Ojibway (Windsor/LaSalle) subpopulation should be translocated, if feasible, to the Wainfleet subpopulation. This way conservation and research efforts of the Carolinian population can be focused on the Wainfleet area only. Testing potential conservation ideas on the wainfleet subpopulation of massasauga could be valuable in conservation of other snake species worldwide. Testing captive-breeding methods and re-introducing massasauga rattlesnakes to the wainfleet subpopulation appears to be one interesting management option for the carolinian population.
