I do not think homes should be built at the expense of surrounding protected lands that are vital to our environment. We cannot claim to prioritize the environment as a Province and Country if we only do so when it is convenient. Much of this land is composed of wetlands which are unique and provide overwhelming benefits to our ecosystem. With the effects of climate change causing increased wildfires and flooding each year, we cannot afford to pave over land that helps battle conditions leading to fires and floods. We need to prioritize utilizing our existing infrastructure and truly start viewing the green belt as space that is already used- not as a development opportunity.
