This land is meant to be protected from development. Shifting protected lands further out continues sprawl, meaning longer travel times, more congestion, and greater pressure on remaining greenbelt lands. There is already enough land available within existing urban growth boundaries to provide supply for next decades, Ontario should focus on maximizing the use and return of these lands.
In addition, the cosy-looking relationship between developers who have bought these lands and the government removing them from protection should be investigated for any potential collusion or forward notice.
