Absolutely ridiculous decision and as a Toronto resident, I'm very angry at plan. I do not understand why such a radical move is being planned when the final goal is to I crease supply of living spaces. Why should we continue to think of living spaces as primarily single family detached houses. Research suggests that single family detached houses require very high costs of maintenance by the city, is very unsustainable, and in general a concept from bygone age of decadence. What the city requires now is high density efficient living spaces, implement by zoning changes and in-city approval of high density housing. Along with good investment into public transit not only would this equal the supply of homes being presented in the current plan, it would also be cost efficient for the city in the long term while building a thriving diversified economic hubs. I hope this plan does not go forward, and the housing committees relook at sustainable housing supply.
