I do not support this proposal. If approved, this will set a precedent that the Greenbelt designation ultimately has no substantive protection and means nothing. This will enable future removals of Greenbelt land with more ease and acceptance, and the term Greenbelt will eventually erode. The proposed removals are in areas where greenspace or farmland are particularly needed and should remain protected. The "added' protected area is lesser quality land in terms of biodiversity and agricultural potential. The Greenbelt land was designated to be protected and should remain as such. Build more homes in other land types and areas, there is not a dearth of land in southern ON.
