Bill 23 is tragic for the people of Ontario.
After promising not to touch the greenbelt, this government is crossing that line. Further, this will likely continue in the future now that this door has been opened. I believe had the government wanted to do this, it ought to have been transparent and ran on this platform.
It has nothing to do with providing housing as there are other solutions.
The weakening of powers of the Conservation Authorities is also not in the public interest.
After breaking its promises, this Bill was pushed through by this government in a very short time frame without regard to natural justice or fairness. The Association of Municipalities was not allowed to present at one of the hearings.
The process has been very undemocratic.
Sincerely,
Colin Brown
