It is hardly idealistic to say that in an age of ever increased global warming our carbon sinks are priceless - this includes the green belt which once gone is gone forever. This legislation was rammed through without ample time for debate (note that the comment period I am submitting to should still be open) and such little foresight it is astounding.
But hey, as long as your rich developer buddies make a buck who cares? It’s curious though, that those developers purchased land in that area, at a time of incredibly high borrowing rates, prior to the announcement that you were going to go through with this disastrous plan. Makes you wonder who knew what when.
