The municipalities of Toronto and Mississauga have already expressed very real concerns, backed by a paper trail of evidence, that the More Homes Built Faster plan, combined with scathing off pieces of the Green Belt, will have adverse financial effects on citizens including a significant rise in property taxes.
The amendments to the Green Belt Act (2005) does not consider environmental impacts nor does it consider the disastrous effects on Ontario's agricultural prowess. These amendments will ensure the irreversible destruction of immensley important farmland, in a period of Ontario's history where groceries and access to food is more expensive than ever.
Most obvious to every individual and family who wants to live in this province is that one can afford to buy the homes proposed to be built. The entire plot is to fill the pockets of Conservative supporters who own construction and housing development companies. There have already been scandals of land owners not doing anything with their properties and now coming forth and revealing themselves to be developers.
The amendments do NOT provide proper nor even adequate plans to combat how development will address and combat the raising of floodplain lands and the consequences therein.
The amendments no not in any way specify how en environmental impacts will be dealt with, including the preservation of important lands supporting endangered ecosystems and species of plants and animals. Pollution of the environment and farmland is also not adequately addressed.
