The Ontario Government's reneging on its previous promise to not touch the Greenbelt falls in line with the underhanded and devious methods it used to circumvent environmental safeguards for our wetlands, biodiversity and flood mitigation plans. The blatant manipulation of zoning Bylaws, diminishment of Conservation Authorities and the 'strong Mayor power's legislation all point to an untrustworthy government that cannot be believed to stop at these proposed amendments. This "Proposed Amendments to the Greenbelt Plan" will be the beginning of the end of the Greenbelt!

The Government of Ontario should investigate and demand from developers Sustainable and Environmentally responsible housing solutions instead of more of the same cookie cutter monstrosities that have devastated so much land already. Serious study must be given to Sustainable housing alternatives before any more land is sacrificed. If anything, we need to protect MORE land from development.
