I think it’s absolutely horrendous that we are destroying perfectly farmable soil and habitats to build more homes. If we continue to destroy the fertile soils and ecosystems that reside in these areas, we will eventually we will lose these beautiful natural environments and see a continual decline in populations and increase towards species extinctions. If we want to fix or amend what we have done to the planet and our environment, we need to start thinking about the impact our actions have. There are ramifications to all the actions we take. Ecosystems have a fine balance, but we as humans and apex predators don’t respect or care about that balance unless it pertains directly to us, which is not ok. Furthermore, once you destroy ecosystems and overturn good soils/land you cannot get that back. Overall, I think that destroying ecosystems and lands in the green belt by building homes is not ok. If we want to provide a better world for generations to come we need to think about the ramifications of our actions, instead of being shortsighted regarding the potential immediate profit.
