This proposal does not benefit the people of Ontario whatsoever. There are no discernible benefits for affordable housing supply. We are replacing precious, limited farmland and wilderness that comprises the foundation of our society and economy, with short-term, fast-built housing in areas that will be prone to flooding in decades ahead under climate change. The government's apparent relationships with developers who purchased lands in the Greenbelt before this proposed change was announced warrants investigation. This reeks of corrupt insider trading and the people of Ontario will not stand for it! I urge the government to reject this proposed change to the greenbelt plan and pursue alternative options for building more affordable housing supply within our existing urban areas – not over precious farmland and natural heritage. And by the way, you cannot just "add" to the greenbelt to make up for what's been removed. That's not how this works. Listen to your experts please.
