I'm writing to call on the Ontario government to repeal Bill 23, as it will be an ineffective piece of legislation that is just going to benefit a handful of developers in the back pocket of the provincial government.
Bill 23 puts our precious farmland and the natural heritage at risk of pressure from sprawl development. All of the accredited Ontario farm organizations signed on to a letter, stating that
"it is possible to build complete communities that can provide for the needs of residents while minimizing sprawl, preventing the loss of farmland, and avoiding additional pressures on urban-rural boundaries. . . (the loss of agricultural land is) not sustainable and will become increasingly worse with the overreaching effects of Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022.”
