Reducing the greenbelt area is completely unacceptable. We need to preserve the lands that are remaining - the protected greenbelt includes wetlands, forests, and floodplains. Not only is this critical for biodiversity and climate change adaptation, but more destruction would reduce the carbon bank and sequestration that the greenbelt supports - all of which is critical in the fight against climate change. Housing is important - but building on the greenbelt is not the way to address the shortage. I am disgusted by this proposition of reducing the greenbelt area, and the Ford government/ PC party should think twice at least of their grandchildren before proceeding with such an absurd proposal.
