While I recognize the importance of more housing, paving over more of our shrinking greenspace, especially the 'green belt', which is essential to what is left of the GTA's ecosystem, is shortsighted and lazy. I'm sure areas of already developed land (say, most of Etobicoke... how many grim little strip malls do we need?) could be redeveloped into higher density housing. Something similar to the 'River City' project in Toronto. I don't suppose my opinion matters; greed and graft will have their way and we will all perish as the climate turns on us faster than we can adapt, but there it is.
