Hi there - I've lived in Waterloo Region my entire life, and I agree with the intensification plan the Region has put forward and approved by the vast majority of Regional councillors. I am against expansion of the Region because intensification and diversification of housing is, I believe, better for the community. I believe that smart/intentional buildings and planning is needed to inject innovation and maintain stability in the Region's growth. By 'intentional' building/planning, what I mean is that the community is considered first, green spaces are plentiful and integrated into the design of spaces, where corporate/developer interests are secondary to what is best for people's health from a physical, mental, emotional, and socio-economic perspective.
I am adamantly against expansion and putting developer interests above what is best for people and the community in the short, medium and long term.
Thank you.
