I am writing not to say that I am a staunch supporter of cap and trade but that, as an Ontario voter, I am opposed to scraping the program unless it is in favour of bringing in new, stricter environmental policy. The cap and trade program seems not the ideal climate policy but it is a fantastic step towards countering the state of environmental disrepair that our society is progressing towards. I will support getting rid of cap and trade ONLY if a new environmental plan has been outlined and is lined up for installation before removing the current policy. Given that this is not the case I am disturbed by the idea of scraping cap and trade and will be forced to vote against the current government in the next election if this goes through.
